National Night Out

On Tuesday, August 4, 2015 from 7 to 9 pm, we’ll be holding our Third Annual National Night Out!  It’s a neighborhood potluck.

Come enjoy a night out with your neighbors along the Genoa Street corridor from 5709 Genoa Street (hellium balloons) to 53rd Street below Genoa (Kidz Zone see


Entertainment and Such: Santa Fe neighborhood’s own fire jugglers Nate Williams and Bill Gallagher and the super popular Kidz Zone (with bouncy house) on 53rd between Genoa and Market Streets, Helium Balloons, Our Purple House neighbors will also provide a bouncy house on Genoa Street.

Gastronomical Delights:  Sasha’s Ice Cream Social, Corn on the Cob Extravaganza, Sweet Pie and Savory Pie Contest. Cast your vote for your favorite pie from both categories!

ALERT – OUR FIRST EVER COMMUNITY FOOD TABLE!  In front of 5661 Genoa Street between 57th and Aileen Streets

We’ll provide beef hot dogs, veggie and beef hamburgers, and homemade Lemonade from Santa Fe neighborhood gardens. Please bring something to grill, a side dishes, dessert or whatever you’d like to share.

Community Tables: Santa Fe CAN community resources, Public Safety, Oakland Animal Services, StopWaste, and Boonation Bike Shoppe!

Added attractions this year:

1. StopWaste will be providing an interactive demonstration on recycling.  Adults and kids alike will love this presentation.

2. Tommy Bensko and the BikeMobile program (free bike repairs for the first 20 signups, including flat tire fixes, brakes and gears adjustment, and replacement of old chains, seats, and tires).

3. Movies: Space Out (an 11 min. short, our neighbor has a role) by our very own Aidan Fraser and Up by Pixar.

4. Free Children Books donated by the East Bay Children’s Book Project.

National Night Out is a nationwide event designed to build strong community partnerships that promote safe and healthy neighborhoods.
