March 9th Forum: Envisioning a New Stanford Greenway

Time:   6:30pm – 8:00pm

Where:  Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute (CHORI), University High Library.

Join us to discuss an exciting new proposal for a Shattuck-Adeline-Stanford-Bay Bridge Greenway. The Stanford portion (just north of Driver Plaza) has many possibilities for continuous bicycle and walking paths, placemaking, recreation,  and green infrastructure.

The Greenway will fully leverage unusually wide rights-of-way that supported former Key Route streetcar lines and the inner East Bay’s generally walkable development patterns.

Funds are being pursued to develop a vision based on planning, design and community engagement.

Stakeholders include the University of California, Berkeley, the cities of Oakland, Berkeley and Emeryville, neighborhood associations and local residents.

The project will be sponsored by Bike East Bay with support from urban designer Matt Taecker of Taecker Planning and Design and CEO John Caner of the Downtown Berkeley Association.

Santa Fe CAN and the Golden Gate Community Association (GGCA) are pleased to host this first public forum and look forward to hosting many more in the future.
